Alocasia Care Guide
🌿 Alocasia Care Guide
Bold. Moody. Regal. Alocasias bring serious attitude — and they expect a little pampering.
Light:
These queens love bright, indirect light. Too much sun can burn those striking leaves, but too little will cause stretching and leaf loss. Filtered light is your best friend.
Water:
Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Let the top 1–2 inches dry out between waterings. Alocasias can be dramatic if overwatered, so a moisture meter is a must-have for peace of mind.
Humidity:
High humidity is non-negotiable — aim for 60–80% if you want to avoid crispy edges and encourage new growth. Perfect candidates for a greenhouse setup or humidifier boost.
Temperature:
Warmth is key: keep them between 65–85°F. Alocasias hate drafts and cold nights — anything below 60°F can trigger dormancy or leaf drop.
Soil:
They love a well-draining, moisture-retentive mix. Our Molly Aroid Mix gives their roots the airflow they need without sacrificing hydration.
Fertilizer:
Feed monthly during active growth with our plant-safe fertilizer to support those thick stems and dramatic foliage. Ease up in winter when they slow down.
Pest Prevention:
Alocasias can attract spider mites and mealybugs if conditions dip. Use our houseplant pest spray preventatively and keep those leaves clean and happy.
Extras & Styling:
Rotate your pot to keep growth balanced, and pair with one of our decorative cover pots for a polished, elevated look. These plants are meant to be admired.
