Scindapsus Care Guide

🌿 Scindapsus Care Guide

(Scindapsus pictus, Treubii, Jade Satin, Silver Splash, etc.)

---

🌤️ Light

Prefers medium to bright indirect light.

Too little light = slow growth + darker leaves with less silver.

Too much direct sun = bleached or crispy patches.

Jade Satin varieties especially dislike harsh light.

---

💧 Water

Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil are dry.

They like to dry out slightly between waterings but not fully bone-dry for long periods.

Overwatering causes: yellowing, soft leaves, black spotting, and root rot.

Underwatering causes: curled or folded leaves, dull silver.

---

🌡️ Temperature

Ideal range: 65–85°F.

Very sensitive to cold drafts — stress shows quickly as curled or drooping leaves.

---

💨 Humidity

Average home humidity (40–60%) is okay.

They love 60–75% for faster growth and better silvery variegation.

Curling or slowed growth may mean humidity is too low.

---

🪴 Soil & Potting

Use a light, airy mix:

potting soil

perlite or pumice

orchid bark or coco chips

Or save time from making your own and pick up Molly’s Mix from us!

Avoid dense, moisture-heavy soils — they suffocate the roots.

Repot every 1–2 years, or when roots start circling or poking out.

---

🌱 Growth & Training

Naturally climbs or trails.

Provide a moss pole for larger leaves and fuller growth.

Treubii grows slower and is more finicky than Pictus varieties.

---

⚠️ Troubleshooting

Yellow leaves

Usually overwatering or low light.

If yellow + mushy = likely root rot.

Curling leaves

Common sign of underwatering or low humidity.

Curling + dry soil = needs water.

Curling + moist soil = check for root issues.

Dull or faded silver

Needs brighter indirect light.

Stress from underwatering can also dull the sheen.

Brown edges/spots

Overwatering, bacteria, or cold damage.

✨ Quick Tips

Rotate your plant every 1–2 weeks for even growth.

They’re slow growers — patience is normal!

Avoid placing near vents or drafty windows.

Great for beginners as long as watering is monitored.
